The first developed city of the 4 cities on the Palos Verdes
Peninsula, Palos Verdes Estates is one of the oldest master planned communities
in the United States. For the majority
of the city, the theme is Mediterranean, with views of Santa Monica Bay, of white water at the beaches south of Los Angeles International Airport, and
of Pacific Ocean. Palos Verdes
Estates is ideally situated on the western coast of the Palos Verdes Peninsula, only a short drive to shopping, award winning schools and abundant recreational
facilities. These include 3 private clubs available to residents for a fee (golf,
tennis and swimming) plus horseback riding on over 25 miles of Peninsula riding
and hiking trails, ice skating, archery, sailing and resorts in nearby
communities. It also has a very
temperate climate for most of the year. A private police force provides extra security in addition to the natural
security a Peninsula has when it is bounded by water on 3 sides! And the wonderful sense of green is
everywhere, the result of a concerted City landscaping effort many years ago by
the Olmstead family… the same family involved in creating Central Park in New
York City. This city is a world apart
yet located less than an hour from downtown Los Angeles and major entertainment
centers like Disneyland, Knotts Berry Farm and Universal Studios.
